Jerley Hart March 18, 1925-Feb. 20, 2010

Funeral services for Jerley Hart, 84, of Franklinton, were Feb. 27, 2010, at Greater Hayes Creek Baptist Church, Warnerton, with Rev. Jerome Warren officiating.

He died Feb. 20, 2010, at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, La.

Hart was retired from Crown-Zellerbach paper mill and was a member of Greater Hayes Creek Baptist Church, where he sang in the male choir.

He was born March 18, 1925, at Franklinton, son of the late James Hart and Emmice Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Dillon Hart.

Survivors include four daughters, Delores Brock and LaDonnie Rushing, both of Tylertown, and Vernis Brock and Francis Minor, both of New Orleans; three sons, Cullie, Jerry and Larry Hart, all of New Orleans; a sister, Blanche Cooper of New Orleans, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. 

 Burial was in the church cemetery with Craft Funeral Home of McComb in charge.

Maya A. Rushing Feb. 14, 2007-March 3, 2010

Funeral services for Maya AshLynn Rushing, 3, of Jayess, were March 5, 2010, at Enon Baptist Church with Revs. David Hedden and Michael Knippers officiating.

She died March 3, 2010, at Walthall General Hospital.

Maya was born Feb. 14, 2007, in Brookhaven, daughter of Toney and Tanya Boyd Rushing, who survive.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Tristan Rushing of Jayess and Aaron Rushing of Summit; a sister, Kristi Ann Johnson of Tylertown; paternal grandparents, Jimmie Nolan and Ann Rushing of Tylertown; maternal grandparents, A.L. “Sonny” Boyd and wife Hope of Jayess; maternal grandmother, Janifer Boyd; and a great-grandmother, Marie Grubbs of Jayess.

Pallbearers were Aaron Rushing, Ken Johnson, Ryan Boyd and Truett Simmons.

Burial was in Enon Cemetery, with Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in charge.

 

James Mitchell Sr. Sept. 4, 1948-Mar. 4, 2010

Funeral services for James Martin Mitchell Sr., 61, were set March 9, 2010, at Enon Baptist Church with Revs. David Hedden and Billy Joe Deer officiating.

He died March 4, 2010, at his Enon community residence.

Mitchell was a farmer and a member of Enon Baptist Church.

He was born Sept. 4, 1948, son of the late Enos and Grace Burch Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Kinler Mitchell; five children and their spouses, Krystal Walter, Monica and Jason Hill, Roy and Cristy Mitchell, Melissa and Gary Stauffer and J.JH. and Toni Mitchell; two brothers, Louis Mitchell of Tylertown and Jerry Mitchell of Baton Rouge; one sister, Annette Lee; his mother in law and her husband, Margie and Harold Redding of Alaska, Tex.; 12 grandchildren.

Burial will be in Enon Cemetery with Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in charge.

 

Alvin W. Crain Aug. 15, 1935-Feb. 26, 2010

Funeral services for Alvin W. Crain, 74, of Gulfport, were March 1, 2010, at Biloxi.

He died Feb. 26, 2010, at New Orleans.

Crain retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Army after 37 years. He was then employed as the Chief Civilian Pharmacist at Keesler Medical Center.

He was a native of Tylertown, born Aug. 15, 1935, son of the late Dewitt Edgar Crain Sr. and Bessie Mae Crain.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Crain; daughter, Lisa Crain Kersanac; two brothers, Harold A. Crain and Delos Ray Crain; two grandchildren.

Burial was at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.

 

Lunisher Holmes

Funeral services for Lunisher Holmes, 96, of Tylertown, were Mar. 3, 2010, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with services at 1 p.m., and Dr. Tom Baily officiating.

She was born Feb. 3, 1914, daughter of George and  Mary Dillon Green.

She died Feb. 23, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center.

Burial was in the church cemetery, with Craft Funeral Home of McComb in charge.
