Billy Johnson, Grand Knight of Fr. Patrick Quinn Council # 11956 , St. Paul’s Church, in Tylertown, was presented with American Legion Post 56’s ‘Friend of the Legion’ award at the Post’s installation of officers, by Post Commander Jerry Beard July 25. This marks the 2nd year that a Knight from Council #11956 has been given this honor. Last year’s recipient was Knight Harry Smith.

Benefit spaghetti dinner is Sept. 18

There will be a benefit spaghetti dinner at the Columbia City Park Sept. 18 beginning at 11 A. M. til 2 P. M. for a cancer patient. 

He is a young man with two children, and he is unable to work, due to cancer treatments.  Plates are $8 each. 

There will also be a Gospel Sing during that time.  Also, there will be games etc. for the children to play, and items to auction off and a bake sale.  “Please come out and support this benefit,” said Charlotte McCain.  For more information call 601-441-8374.

THS class of 1980 reunion Saturday

The Tylertown High School class of 1980 will have its 30th reunion Saturday at Southwest Events Center beginning at 10 a.m.

The event includes a catered lunch at noon, sharing photos and music from the period. The group will also tour the high school.

Event planners include Felicia Thornhill Foil, Rhonda Boyd, Dee Dee Roberts Thomas, Barry Dillon, Faye Magee, Belinda Alexander Fife and Angela Hightower Ward.
