MacArthur Lewis, 77, of Tylertown, died Feb. 17, 2020, in Jackson, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1942, in Franklinton, he was the son of the late Hubert Lewis and Altha Mae Simmons Lewis. He joined the Greater Hayes Creek MB Church at an early age.
He worked for Jones Logging Co. for many years. Later he became a truck driver and logger. He also had a passion for training and riding horses.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Nell Lewis Carson, and three brothers Johnnie B., Julius and Gregory Lewis.
Survivors are his wife, Carrie Faye Lewis of Tylertown; two sons, James Mac Arthur Lewis of Hattiesburg, Tyrone Holmes of Franklinton; four daughters Carolyn (Willie) Quinn of Tylertown, Patricia (Anthony) Dillon of Summit, Lisa Lewis of Tylertown, Paula (Kirkpatrick) Martin of McComb; three children Toni Holmes, Linda Lewis and La’Shunda Causey all of Franklinton; two sister Mary “Dee” (Earl) Myers of New Orleans, Betty Warren of Franklinton; one brother, Larry “J” (Patricia) Lewis of Franklinton; one aunt Elma Lee Kelly of New Haven, CN.
A funeral service was Feb. 22, 2020, at Greater Hayes Creek MBC with Supt. Andrew Jordan rendering the eulogy and Rev. Jerome Warren officiating. Interment was in Tylertown Cemetery II.
Pallbearers were Keith Warren, Trosclair Magee, Steve Carson, Donnell Brumfield, Randy Lee and Juan Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers were James Lewis, Tyrone Holmes, Larry Lewis and LaMalcolm Lewis.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
