A funeral service for Bertram A. O’Quin, 84, of Tylertown, was March 5, 2020, at Capps Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Knight officiating, burial in the Hilcrest Memorial Garden.
O’Quin died at his residence in Tylertown Feb. 29, 2020. He was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Mississippi to the late Idena and Hershell O’Quin. He is also preceded in death by sons Tony Monroe O’Quin and Robert Edward O’Quin; mother of his children Jacqueline Patricia O’Quin; brothers Beryl O’Quin and Carl O’Quin; sisters Fredine Martin and Dorris Rowell, granddaughter Tonya; and great granddaughter Jaylynn Leal.
O’Quin was an active member of Tylertown Baptist Church and a Mason. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. He loved traveling with his grandchildren to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, working in his yard, and spending time with his wife Kay.
Survivors include his wife Sybil Kay O’Quin; children Carolyn Ann (Roger) Miller, Vicki Carol O’Quin, and Bert Abney O’Quin Jr.; stepchildren Pam (Trey) Reeves, David (Kathy) Snowden, and Will (Ala) Snowden; grandchildren Jodie Leal, Melissa (Jeremy) Pollard, Ginger (Brandon) Breeland, Ashton (Danyell Estes) Spring, Patricia (Stephen Kimmel) Spring, Jessica O’Quin, Edward O’Quin, Shanon O’Quin, and Joshua O’Quin; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers were David Snowden and Mason Lodge.
Honorary pallbearers were Tylertown Baptist Corporate Men’s Sunday School Class.
