Schools plan to resume Aug. 6

Walthall County School District plans to resume school Aug. 6.
In conjunction with the safe reopening of school for the new year, the district has made a survey available to parents in order to determine how they feel, and what steps should be taken.
An online survey form is available. District officials are asking parents to respond to the survey with one submission per household: https://forms.gle/LsFevdEAB4nWv5tW6
The survey asks for parents’ concerns about social distancing among students and/or staff; cleaning and disinfecting facilities, classroom numbers, the wearing of face masks and transportation.
The survey also proposes several reopening models recommended by the state Department of Education including a traditional return to school in August with appropriate social distancing and safety measures; a hybrid return with approximately one-half of students attending school on alternate times and/or days with other days devoted to on-line or learning packets; and virtual school–virtually online. In order for this to be successful parents will need to accept responsibilities related to the education of their child, including attendance and internet access.
School officials say results of the survey will help them determine what course to take with the planned reopening of the school year Aug. 6.
