A graveside service for Margie Louise Davis, 92, of Tylertown, was at New Zion Cemetery July 20, 2020, with Rev. Justin Knight officiating.
Mrs. Davis died at her residence in Tylertown July 16, 2020. She was born July 2, 1928, in Walthall County to the late Myra Wood and Ansel N. Terrell.
Mrs. Davis graduated from New Zion High School. She began working as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell, moving in various positions in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, retiring from AT&T after 37 years. Mrs. Davis began substituting as a teacher for Walthall County Schools continuing for 20 years. She and her late husband could be seen at many basketball games at Tylertown High School, Southwest Community College, and the State Playoff games in Jackson.
She was a member of Tylertown Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lampton M. Davis, Jr., granddaughter Wendy Long, sisters Beatrice Rollins, Georgia (JT) Dillon, Mecy (Charles) Brumfield, and brother Clinton Terrell.
Survivors include her son Ansel Lamar (Vicki) Davis, daughter Fern (Dee) Thompson, grandsons Andy (Amber) Davis, Adam (Rhea Anne) Davis, Kenneth Thompson, granddaughter Theresa (Brian) Reaves, 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Dennie (Arthur) Wisneski; Lanier Davis, and Janice Davis.
Pallbearers were Andy Davis, Dylan Davis, Elvin Dillon, Bill Rollins, Dee Thompson, and Mike Pigott.
Honorary pallbearers were Adam Davis and Tommy Brumfield.
