C. J. Byrd, 75, of Tylertown, also known as ‘George’ the mower man, died July 31, 2020, at Merit Health Hospital in Hattiesburg after a brief illness.
He was born March 19, 1945, in Tylertown to the late L. C. and Hattie Byrd.
A graveside funeral service for Byrd was Aug. 8, 2020, at St. Paul MBC Cemetery with Rev. Troy Magee officiating, interment in St. Paul Church Cemetery.
Byrd was a member of St. Paul MB Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, sister, four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Virginia Cook Byrd; two daughters, Elizabeth (Troy) Magee and Shirley Byrd both of Tylertown; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; four sisters: Emma Cook, Bobbie Holmes, Essie Gatlin, all of Tylertown, and Essie (Luther) Bearden, Pontiac, MI; brother, B. J Byrd, Tylertown.
