Virginia Warren, 62 of Tylertown, died Aug. 10, 2020, at Southwest Medical Center after battling a brief illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1957, in Walthall County, the 7th child of the late Mary and Therman Forternberry.
A service for Mrs. Warren was Aug. 16, 2020, Craft-Ginn Funeral Chapel, interment in Mt. Moriah MB Church Cemetery.
She was a member of Magee’s Hill COGIC until she married Rev. Ellis Warren for 38 years and joined Mt. Moriah MBC where she helped with the feeding programs each summer and served in many capacities including the sunbeam choir. She served as 1st Lady of Lee’s Chapel MBC beside her husband as pastor. She served on mission board, sick and shut-in committee, bible school teacher and choir member until her health began failing in 2006.
In her early years, she worked at Tylertown Elementary School as a cafeteria worker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers: Willie, Therman and Joe Fortenberry; four sisters: Wanda Magee, Clara Conerly, Diane Dent and Annie Fortenberry.
Survivors are two daughters: Stacey and LaStasha Warren; son: Stanley Warren all of Tylertown; two granddaughters: Jazmya Warren, Franklinton, and Sunjaya Warren, Tylertown; grandson, Jyln Warren, Tylertown; seven sisters: Willie Jewel Magee, Tylertown, Willie Stein (James) Ball, New Orleans, Nercile Fortenberry, Tylertown, Bonnie Forte, Baton Rouge, LA, Mary Howard, Tylertown, Patricia (Larry) Lewis, Franklinton, and Joann Fortenberry, Tylertown; special niece and nephew: Myra Newell and Willie Ray Fortenberry; in-laws: Lenora Lee, Deborah Williams, Joyce Jordan, Neva Perry and Eddie Ruth Warren.
