Operation Christmas Child curbside drop-off process explained
The Samaritan’s Purse Ministry is proceeding with the collection of shoebox gifts during National Collection Week Nov. 16-23. Tylertown Baptist Church will be the drop off location for Walthall County’s Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection. The hours of operation for the drop off location will be 3-6pm Monday through Friday, Nov. 16-20, 3-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22 and 8-10am on Monday, Nov. 23. Some changes in the collection of the shoeboxes will be unique for 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
“We want to ensure that every person dropping off a shoebox experiences the love and care of Christ, and remove any barriers that would prevent a donor from dropping off their shoebox gift. The drop-off location at Tylertown Baptist Church will have directional signage to facilitate a curbside experience. Donors will be able to remain in their vehicles as a volunteer provides assistance in filling out a drop off form ( digital or paper) and also take any prayer requests. A volunteer will also unload your shoebox gifts if desired or direct the donor to place the shoebox gifts on a cart in a designated area,” said Fred and Paulette Johnson, coordinators of the church project.
Drop off locations are a shoebox gift’s first stop as it begins its voyage to a waiting child in another country. By packing a shoebox gift, a donor has the tremendous opportunity to share the gospel to the ends of the earth.
