Equilla Mark Pittman, 84, of Tylertown, died Nov. 6, 2020, at Wesley Merit Health in Hattiesburg.
Born Dec. 25, 1935, in Tylertown, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Mark and Tressie Mae Magee Mark. She received her grammar school education at the Brandon Bay school system in Tylertown.
Mrs. Pittman accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Dexter. She later joined Tylertown First Baptist Church and attended until her health failed.
She was a homemaker until her last child started school. When she began working, she worked several jobs including working as a bus attendant for headstart children then working many years at New Orleans Furniture Factory in Columbia and later retiring from Heavenly Delite Restaurant in Tylertown.
She met and married Linon Pittman on Nov. 1, 1952. They had seven children and were married for 62 years until his death.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Tressie Mark; a sister, Leslie Mae Magee; her husband Linon Pittman; a son Lynn Quincy Pittman; four grandchildren, Curstin Levi, Rhema Mariki, Lennie Pittman and Pierre Pittman.
Survivors are her six children, Elinda (Garry) Fortenberry, Evetta Pittman, Linell (Dorothy) Pittman, Corinthus Pittman, Carivenda (Eldra) Magee, and Henderson (LaVarshia) Pittman; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Grace Pittman; a special daughter, Jacqueline Magee; a special grandson, Kendrick Levi; and a special nurse, Crystal Conerly; four sisters, Antoinette Anders, Nancy Mark, Murphy Youngblood and Josie Simpson.
A graveside service was Nov. 14, 2020, at Brandon Bay United Methodist Church Cemetery with Clayton Bullock rendering the eulogy and officiating.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
