Christopher “Chris” Columbus Broom, 58, a resident of Dexter, died Dec. 27, 2020, at UMC, Jackson.
A service was Dec. 31, 2020, at Dexter Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jerry Terrell officiating.
Broom was born June 2, 1962, in Tylertown, the son of Roland Broom and Effie Adams Broom.
He was a carpenter and contractor for many years. He helped build churches all over the country and gave to ministries everywhere. He was a friend to the ministry and gave of his time. He was a member of Dexter Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Effie Broom; one brother, William “Bill” Broom; a sister, Margie Elaine Roberts and a niece, Natisha Broom.
Survivors include two daughters, Ambar Broom of Columbia, and Bethany Broom of Pineville, La.; a son, Chance Broom of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Sam Broom of Foxworth, Jeremy Broom of Salisbury, N.C. and Joey Rainer (Kayla) of Columbia; one sister, Linda Broom of Columbia; and two grandchildren, Christian Broom and Maddison Broom.
Pallbearers were Chance Broom, Mark Broom, Zachary Broom, Nicholas Roberts, Carlos Cerero and John Creel.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Broom, Sam Broom, Terry Holmes and Bryan Terrell.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Foxworth with Hartman-Jones Funeral Home, McComb, in charge.
