James “Jinx” Burkhalter
Oct. 21, 1944 – Jan. 18, 2021
An outdoor funeral service was Jan. 23, 2021, at First Pentecostal Church of Sumrall for James “Jinx” Burkhalter, 76, of Sumrall, who died Jan. 18, 2021. Rev. Clint Bourne officiated.
He had two favorite verses of Scripture. John 14:1-3 reads, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” And Jesus gives the promise in Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
Burkhalter was preceded in death by father, William “Bill” Burkhalter; and his mother, Bertha Lee Hatten Burkhalter; two brothers, Hoyt Burkhalter, Brent Burkhalter; two sisters, Sue Johnson, Tressie Farmer; and one grandchild, Cameron Burkhalter.
