J. C. Brister, 81, of Tylertown, died Feb. 5, 2021, at Walthall General Hospital in Tylertown, after a brief illness.
A funeral service for Brister was Feb. 13, 2021, at East-McComb Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located in McComb, with Rev. Isiah Jones officiating, interment in St. Paul Church Cemetery, Tylertown.
Brister was born May 10, 1939, to Hilda Mae Brister and Tehoma Smith of Tylertown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola B. Brister and his parents, Hilda M. Brister and Tehoma Smith; grandparents who reared him, Mamie and Lenzie Brister; two sons, Robert E. Brown and Robin K. Brister; one daughter, Stephanie Y. Brister; one granddaughter, Tomesha Puckett; one grandson, KaDarion Brister and one sister, Dorothy Lee Brister.
Survivors are four daughters, Ollie Nell Brister and Feleshia (Derrick) Young both of Tylertown, Linda B. Chandler and Brenda B. Williams both of Baton Rouge; ten sons, Gary Brister, Marvin Brister, Jimmy (Shalonda) Brister, David (LaRhonda) Brister and Curtis Brister all of Tylertown, Roy (Charlotte) Brister, Fredrick (Vicki) Brister and Kenneth (Katorya) Brister all of Clarksdale, Eddrick (Tamika) Brister of Hattiesburg, and Bobby Brister of Chicago, IL; 40 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen White of Chicago.
Craft-Ginn Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
