Vincent Edward Myers was born July 30, 1964, in Hattiesburg to the late Albert Cobb and Doris E. Myers Gray. He died Feb. 12, 2021.
He was involved in and joined Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Petal in his youth and served as a junior usher and a member of the youth choir.
Myers graduated from Runnelstown High School where he was an all-distict football player and after high school, he enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard where he served his country for 10 years. In 1991, he met Parlean May and they were married in 1995.
In 2009, Myers felt a call to preach and preached his first sermon at China Lee Missionary Baptist Church. He was licensed by the late Dr. Edward James Earl.
He worked many jobs in his lifetime including driving the school bus for Lawrence County School District. He rarely missed a sporting event, football, softball, baseball, or track, home or away.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Uncle Robert Myers.
Survivors are his wife, Parlean May Myers; two daughters, Pernesia Myers and Vanesha Myers, both of Jayess; one son, Tristan “Jeremiah” of Jayess; one granddaughter, Madlyn of Jayess; mother-in-law, Rose Lee May of Jayess; God-son, Amareon Cowans of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Debbie Walker (Flash) of Easabuchie, Twana Gary of Richton; one brother, Tony Norwood of Hattiesburg; nine sisters-in-law, Nellie Pittman, Elnora Beverly (Garry) both of Jayess, Martha Hayes and Caroline McGowan, both of Monticello, Gloria Smith, Rosetta Lee (Billy), and Susie McNeil, all of Silver Creek, Cora Gatlin of Bogalusa, and Arnella Williams of San Francisco, CA; three brothers-in-law, Kelvin May of Port Arthur, TX, Lee Alton May of Mendenhall, and Michael May of Jayess; three aunts, Shirley McSwain of Richton, Thelma Myers and Marly Lee Myers both of Petal; one uncle, Edward “Pee Wee” Myers of Hattiesburg.
A service was Feb. 20, 2021, at South Spring Hill Baptist Church in Monticello, Bishop Desean Toler officiating, interment in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Carter Jr., Andrew Beverly, Clifford Myers, Quinton Beverly and LaColby Keys.
Honorary pallbearers were Ken McSwain, Reginald Myers, Clayton Myers, Mike McSwain, Billy McSwain, Carl McSwain and Anthony Myers.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangments.
