Graveside services for Norman C McDaniel, 78, of Tylertown, were March 7, 2021, at Tylertown Cemetery.
McDaniel died at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg March 4, 2021. He was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Magnolia to the late Lucy and Carmen McDaniel. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Mary Joyce McDaniel; brother Stanley McDaniel; sisters-in-law Marie McDaniel and Mary Lou McDaniel; daughter-in-law Cindy McDaniel; brother-in-law Benny Baughman; nephews Carmen Joe McDaniel and Kenny Stelly; and family friend Leroy Wallace.
When he was young, he learned to play the guitar by ear and used that talent in a band made of family and friends. He was a businessman who owned a Whataburger in Baton Rouge and later owned the Eastside Chevron in Tylertown. But his passion for working on tractors was his special trade. McDaniel was always joking around and one of his favorite pastimes was to drag race. His number one companion after his wife died was his dog Pee Wee.
Survivors include his sons David (Natalie Magee) McDaniel and Dwayne (Theresa) McDaniel; grandchildren Brandie (Andy) Rushing and Dale (Ashley Dunnam) McDaniel; step grandson Jacob Magee and Chris(Devin) Boyd; great- grandchildren Haylee Rushing, Hallee Rushing, Hanalee Rushing, and Baby Brantley McDaniel; step great-grandchild Banyon Dunnam, Kendall Boyd, and Makenzie Boyd; siblings Toney McDaniel, Ann Baughman, Tommy (Dorothy) McDaniel, and Dickey (Jo Ann) McDaniel.
Pallbearers were Thomas Spence, Bobby Cheeks, Chuck McDaniel, Gerald McDaniel, Cameron McDaniel, and Mickey McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers were Mack McDaniel, Mike McDaniel, Mike Puder, and Billy McCain.
