Jerome Conerly, 88, of New Orleans, native of Jayess, died at his residence, New Orleans March 1, 2021, after a lengthy illness. He was born June 11, 1932, in Jayess, to the late Levi and Eveleanor Mongtomery-Conerly.
A funeral service was March 8, 2021, at Craft-Ginn Funeral Chapel, interment in the New Home COCH Cemetery, Jayess.
He attended Hope High School and later joined the U.S. Army and served four years before he moved to New Orleans. He began working at South Scrap Material Co. and worked there for 35 years and then became a certified barber where he later retired.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ametia Conerly and Ora Lee (Elder Walter) Neal and brother Roosevelt Conerly, sister-in-law, Annie Mae Conerly, son-in-law, Alton Andrews and cousin, Joseph Green.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Audrey Pittman Conerly, children: Margaret Andrews, Gregory, Michael Conerly and Bobby (Clemetine) Pittman; two brothers: Morise Conerly and Edward (Myrtle) Conerly; two sisters: Audrey (Willie) Robertson and Ineta Conerly; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grands.
Craft-Ginn Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
