Danny Ray Coon, 70, of Summit, died April 10, 2021, at his residence.
Coon was born in Tylertown Jan. 21, 1951, and was the son of the late Alvie Quitman Coon and Zula Mae Dunaway Coon. He worked many years offshore and overseas before being diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis. He was a member of Holmesville Baptist Church in McComb.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Sam and Verlis Dunaway and Linus and Nellie Coon; two sisters-in-law, Wilda and Bonnie Coon and one brother-in-law, David Jones.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Betty Alexander Coon of Summit; two sons, Danny Dewayne (Joaunnu) Coon of Pricedale, and Jeffrey Lynn (Misty) Coon of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Samantha Coon (Jacob) Phelps, Alexander David (Melea) Coon, Abigail Elizabeth Coon, Masey Morris (Nick) Holmes, Lauren Ann Coon, Kyle Jeffrey Coon; one great-grandson, Clark Alexander Coon; three brothers, D.V. (Joyce) Coon, Ernest (Eva) Coon, and Jerry (Sylvia) Coon; two sisters, Kathy Jones and friend, Floyd Martin, and Sheila (Keith) Arnold; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Fay Alexander; one brother-in-law, William F. Brent; one special cousin, Lanell King.
A Celebration of Life service was April 18, 2021, at his residence, with Rev. William Leland Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to continue his tradition of giving to needy children at Christmas.
Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit was in charge of the arrangements.
