Bennie James Conerly, 50, of New Orleans, died April 30, 2021, in New Orleans.
Born June 19, 1970, in New Orleans, he was the son of the late Fred Conerly Sr., and Modena Walker Conerly.
Bennie was a honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran who served two tours of duty – Haiti Peacekeeping and Operation Desert Storm. Conerly received The Army Commendation Medal / Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award) / National Defense Service Medal / Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal / Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Star (BSS) / Kuwaity Liberation Medal (SA) and (K) / Humanitarian Service Medal / Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon / Army Service Ribbon / Overseas Service Ribbon and Marksman Marksmanship.
Upon returning home, he worked in the cable industry. He received a full military pension.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Conerly Honore, and nephew, Christian Conerly.
Survivors are Elsa G. Conerly, Jalind Matthew Conerly, Frederick and Vanessa Conerly, Emmanuel and Hattie Lee, Norman Conerly, Steven and Ava Rhodes, Fred and Charmaine Conerly and Larry and Vendoria Perodin.
A graveside service was May 8, 2021, at Dillon Hill Church of God in Christ with Eld. Clifford Dawson rendering the eulogy and officiating, interment in the church cemetery.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
