Funeral services for Charles Ray Carney, 86, of Magnolia, were July 10, 2021 at State Line United Pentecostal Church, burial in the State Line United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
Carney died at his residence in Magnolia July 8, 2021. He was born April 25, 1935, in Jayess to the late Rev. Albert and Grace Carney. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Donald Carney and Rev. James E. Carney; sisters Annie Rose Graves and Maxine Magee: cousin who was more like a brother, T. L. (Tommy) Wallace.
Carney worked hard as a part salesman for Magee Chevrolet and 18 years with Napa Auto Parts. But he was best remembered as transportation director for the Walthall County School District for 22 years. He was an avid coon hunter and farming was his passion. He always made sure to visit his homebound or hospitalized friends, family and neighbors whenever it was needed.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years Janet Carney; children Gina (Charles) Bounds, Paula (Rev. Henry) Broom, and Sandra (Timothy) Barber; step children Jesse (Megan) Alford and Kimberly (Joshua Williams) Alford; grandchildren Andy (Chamik) Bounds, Chase (Casey) Bounds, Cord McNabb, Annalisa (Zaquarius) Martin, Marcaila (Jordan) Catchings, Alexis Barber, Alora Barber, Alyssa Barber, Tyler Barber, Karsyn Alford, Kyliegh Alford, Natalie Alford: 10 great grandchildren; sister Judith (Rev. Larry) Hoyt; sister-in-law Marjorie Lambert and Jean Carney; special lifelong friends Preston Dillon, John Hill, and Marcus Swanigan.
Pallbearers were Tyler Barber, Jay Carney, Andy Bounds, Chase Bounds, Cord McNabb, and Jesse Alford.
