Walter “Walton” Green, 52, native of Kokomo, died July 26, 2021, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula.
Born Feb. 5, 1969 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Arthur Green, Jr., and the late Thelma Ruth Jefferson Green. Walter was married to Heather Marie Atkinson Green.
At a young age, Green became a member of New Damascus MB Church in Kokomo. He graduated West Marion High School in 1988. He was a member of the Trojan varsity football team there and was an offensive and defensive lineman.
He was a shipbuilder at Northrup Grumman, commonly known as Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula.
Survivors are his wife, Heather Marie Atkinson; children, Tasheria, Tasmas, Walter Jr., Danielle, Kelsea, Kyle, Thelma, Jordan, Nathan, Olivia Green and Caleb; four brothers, John (Amy) Grenn of Pascagoula; Nelvis (Earnestine) Green of Sandy Hook; Elton (Carolyn) Green, Welton (Terry) Green of Gautier; four sisters, Bobbie (Darrye) Webster of Richmond Hill, GA; Justine (Lyon) Williams of New Orleans; one sister-in-law, Debora (John) Green Williams of Hattiesburg.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Lee Green and Fitzgerald Green; three sisters, Dorothy Green Magee, Addie Louise Green and Loretta Powell.
A funeral service was July 31, 2021, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia with Rev. Tony Conerly officiating and rendering the eulogy, interment in the New Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Washington Funeral Home along with Smith Funeral Home of Columbia were in charge of the arrangements.
