Funeral services for Pet Pell Wheless, 66, of Tylertown, were Oct. 2, 2021, at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Myers officiating, interment at Tylertown Cemetery.
Mrs. Wheless died Sept. 28, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. She was born May 24, 1955, in Tylertown to Joyce and Luther Rudolph Odom Sr. She will be buried at the Tylertown Cemetery next to her parents and her brothers.
She shared 40 years with her husband, Ron. She cherished any moment with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Wheless was a school teacher at Parklane Academy for many years. Her students will always remember her for her love of Elvis and teaching them the song, “Froggy Went A Courtin.” She was most famous for her cooking. If you walked into her house, you were going to leave with a full stomach. She spent many hours in the kitchen, and it was always worth the wait. Pell Wheless was a lifelong member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed any moment with her church family, singing old hymns, and sharing her fried steak afterwards.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Luther Rudolph Odom Sr.; her brothers Luther Rudolph “Rudy” Odom Jr.; and Anthony “Blane” Odom.
She is survived by her husband Ron Wheless; their children, Luther “Luke” (Beth) Wheless, Ronnie (Susan) Wheless Jr.; Greg (Cassie) Wheless, John (Kaffy) Wheless, Chantel (Rob) Stephens; grandchildren Chynna, Lane, Maddy, Joshua Hedgepeth, Joshua Stephens, Ada (Dylan), Andrew (Jen), Kenny, Abby, Dawn, Phoenix, Ava, Genny, and Blane.
