Ora Lee Smith-Washington, 91 of Chicago, IL, died Sept. 22. 2021, in Chicago, IL. She was born March 1, 1930.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Salem Baptist Church. She received her education from Hope High School where she met and married the love of her life, Lewis Washington Sr. They had nine children together.
A few years after moving to Chicago, she landed a job at the U.S. Postal Service where she worked until retirement in 1991. She and Lewis then traveled back and forth to California and Mississippi and many other places.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Washington Sr.; grandson, Dion Howard.
Survivors are nine children: Annie, Lewis Jr., Waymon (Sandra), Joann, Naomi (Donald), Audrey (Eddie), Yolanda (Robert), Dewayne, and Anttwan; 25 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren.
A graveside service was Oct. 9, 2021, at Salem MB Church in Jayess, with Rev. Herron officiating, interment in the church cemetery.
