Clarence Tate, Jr., 73, of Franklinton, died at St. Tammany Hospital, Covington. Tate was born Jan. 30, 1948, in Walthall County to Clarence Tate Sr. and Waver Tate.
A funeral service was Oct. 30, 2021, at New Jerusalem MBC in Clifton, Rev. Johnny Causey officiating. He attended Washington Parish High School until he left to get a job to help his parents and siblings. He was employed with Bateman & Crain, Pre-Press Lumber, Washington Co-Op and Jones Lumber Co.
In 1973, he met and married Gloria Pittman of Brandon Bay and they had five children.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church
Survivors are his wife, Gloria Pittman; children: Tyrone (Shekita) Tate of Franklinton, Tameka (Terry) Pittman Jr. of Columbia, Catrina (Roger) Johnson of Columbia, Emanual Tate of Franklinton, Bianca Tate of Franklinton; grandchildren: Knoxx, Kohen, Kaiden, Keaton, Tyron, Taviyun, Shaniya, Jordan, Deondre’; two brothers: James Edward (Lisa) Tate of Franklinton, John Tate of Panama City Beach, FL; three sisters: Evelyn Tate, Renet (Eld. Jacob) Tate, Brenda (Jerry) Gatlin of Franklinton, and Rene (Rev. Otis) Brumfield of Hot Springs Village, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elvis Tate.
