Alvin Leroy “Paul” Tate, 54, of Mt. Hermon, died Jan. 10, 2022, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.
Born July 30, 1967, in Bogalusa, he was the son of the late Jimmy Louis Tate and Mary Alice Martin Tate.
He was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. His favorite things to do were fishing on the Mississippi River catching catfish with his uncle James Brown, owning fast cars and going to the race track. He started working at Gene’s Tire Center in Folsom in 2006. He was a tire salesman who greeted the customers with a smile.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors are two sons, Kendall Sibley and Mark Jones; two granddaughters, Sky Williams and Reniya Jones; mother, Mary Tate; two sisters, Rhonda Johnson and Rosa Tate; seven brothers, Dennis (Shelia) Tate, Jimmie (Cynthia) Tate, Wilton Tate, Louis (Jennifer) Tate, Frankie (Jiane) Tate and Chris Tate; a god-brother, Julius Coleman; a special friend, Sherlene Williams.
A funeral service was Jan. 15, 2022, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Osyka, with Rev. Elton McEwen rendering the eulogy and officiating, interment in the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leonardo Tate, Jimmie “Bubba” Tate, Hakeem Tate, Cornellius Tate, Antoine Tate, Camren Johnson, Nickolas Taylor and Willie Magee.
Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Tate, Jimmie Tate, Calvin Tate, Wilton Tate, Louis Tate, Frankie Tate, Chris Tate and Julius Coleman.
Washington Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
