Funeral services were Jan. 13, 2022, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Doyle Lavaughn Sauls, 87, of Jayess, interment at Magee’s Creek Cemetery, Rev. Buddy Day officiating. He died Jan. 6, 2022.
Sauls was born Oct. 4, 1934, the oldest of five children. He married his high school sweetheart, Lyndora Smith Sauls. He worked as a farmer and as a supervisor at Exxon Mobil for 30 years. After retirement, he was a proud member of the Exxon Mobil Annuitant Club of South Mississippi.
He was a member of Magee’s Creek Baptist Church. He loved gospel music, and eating catfish.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lyndora Smith Sauls; father, Johnie Nicodemus Sauls; mother, Mary “Maude” Andrews Sauls; brothers, J.N. Sauls and Bobby Sauls.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jan Sauls of Baton Rouge; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Julie and Edwin Noland of Denham Springs, LA; great-grandson, Emmett Remington Noland; brother, Kenny Sauls; sister and brother-in-law, Gail & Nicky Cother.
Pallbearers were Edwin R. Noland, III, Shane Sauls, Chad Sauls, Philip Cothern, Mike Evans, and Michael Brister.
Honorary pallbearers were Emmett Noland and The Exxon Mobil Annuitant Club of South Mississippi
