King parade cancelled due to COVID

The latest spike of COVID-19 has caused cancellation or rescheduling of several local events including Monday’s Dr. Martin Luther King parade downtown and the observance following at Southwest Events Center.
Rev. Clayton Bullock, pastor of Tylertown First Baptist Church, coordinator of the event, said the recent increase in case numbers and the determination by the county school district to suspend in-school classes at Salem Attendance Center and Tylertown Primary School caused leaders to revamp the observance
“Like last year, we utilized the facilities of Facebook Live and You Tube in order to air a virtual observance. Hopefully, we will eventually be able to return to our usual parade and observance, but in the interest of the safety and health of participants, we know you’ll understand our decision,” Bullock said.
