Services for Jerry Alton King, 79, of Monticello, were Feb. 11, 2022, at Topeka Baptist Church, China Grove Road, Jayess, interment in Roberts Memorial Cemetery adjacent to the church.
He died Feb. 8, 2022. He was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Walthall County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Hedgepeth King and John Alton King; his sister, Billie King Hall, and his daughter, Belinda King Brister.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Watson King; his children, Sheri King Everett (Victor) of Monticello, Vicky King Johnson (Wayne) of Crosby, Jerry Darrel King, Sr. (Chasity) of Monticello, and (Curt Brister) of Jayess; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jimmy Lyn King (Donna); three sisters: Billie King Hall (Joe), Sandra King Sarich (Ron) and Mary Beth Young.
Jerry served in his church and ministered through The Gideons International. He engaged family, friends, and strangers in conversation as often as he could. He loved to laugh and loved to cause others to find humor in everyday life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Topeka Baptist Church Building Fund, or purchase of Bibles through The Gideons International.
