Edison Carr, 85, of Tylertown, died April 23, 2022, at Forrest General Hospital. Carr was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Tylertown to Alcus Carr Sr. and Fannie Brock Carr.
After leaving Tylertown he learned typesetting. He worked for General Motors and retired after over 30 years of service.
He was a church trustee and worked in the financial department for Easy Sunny Hill Church. He also sang in the men’s choir. Some described him as a jack of all trades because of his life’s experiences and abilities.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Leodis Carr, J.W. Carr, Alcus Carr Jr., Willis Bishop and Rampsey Bishop; his son, Edison Ford Carr Jr. and grandson, Isaiah Ramon Carr-Dean.
Survivors are his wife, Anna Prestte Carr of Tylertown; son Theodore (Silvia) Carr of Las Vegas, NM; daughters Rachel Carr of Brooklyn, NY, and Nilcole Carr of Lafayette, IN; granddaughters, Selina Carr-McEwen of Lake Ridge, VA, Jazmine (Chris) Valencia of Albuquerque, NM, GeGe Carr of Chicago, IL, Yolanda Carr Dean, Heather Carr and Jordan Carr all of Lafayette, IN; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Jessie (May) Carr of Chicago, IL, Prince Albert (Mildred) Carr, Edison Carr, Willie George (Peggy) Carr, Rev. Lovell (Avie Nell) Carr of Pontiac, MI, W.J. (Margie) Bishop of New Orleans, Arcell Bishop of Milwaukee, WI, and Herman Bishop of Pontiac, MI; sisters: Geneva (Jules) Howard of Fredricksburg, MD, and Angie (Willie) Tynes of New Orleans, his Goddaughter, Jessica Wesley of Fort Wayne, IN.
Services were April 30, 2022, at East Sunny Hill MB in Tylertown, interment in East Sunny Hill Cemetery, Bishop Willie T, Deans officiating.
