Mildred E. Burns, 82, of Enfield, CT, died May 1, 2022, at her residence.
Born June 12, 1939, in Magnolia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Barnes and Dinah Barnes Dillon.
She was a longtime member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in McComb where she was a Sunday School teacher and president of the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Clara Lee Simmons and Herley Mae Gulledge; and a brother, Burnell Barnes.
Survivors are two sons, Darvalle (Denise) Grandville of Entfield, CT, Anthony (Elizabeth Katine) Grandville of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Delano, Ebonee’, Tyshawn, Kaili, Tirrany, Marquez, Joseph, Tasia, Shaniya; ten great grandchildren; goddaughter, Tiffany Cole; ten siblings, Hattie Brown, of Phoenix, AZ, Zebedee (Gwen) Barnes of Chicago, IL, Lucy Faye Hughes of Pflugerville, TX, Ezell (Ruby) Barnes of Chicago, IL, Lussettie Henderson of Pflugerville, TX, Thomas James (Sharon) Barnes of Chicago, IL, McTerry (Laverne) Barnes of Las Vegas, NV, Bobby Ray (Maria) Barnes of Chicago, IL, Delois Barnes of Pflugerville, TX, and Debra (Raymond) Wilcher of Griffin, GA.
A funeral service was May 20, 2022, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Magnolia, with pastor Samuel Fonta Reese officiating, interment at the St. James MBC Cemetery.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
