Michael K. Bates, 50, of Tylertown, died June 21, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born June 10, 1972, in Walthall County to Leo Bates and the late Bonnie Foxworth Bates.
He was educated at Tylertown High School class of 1990. He continued his education at Southwest Community College receiving an associate degree in machinery and later furthering his education as a truck driver.
He worked as a truck driver for a number of years until his health began failing. He was married to Marilyn R. Bates. He was a member of Bibleway C.O.G.I.C.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Foxworth Sr. and Jennye L. Foxworth; paternal grandparents, Jessie and Mamie Bates.
Survivors are his wife, Marilyn Rankin Bates; three step children, LaQuita Rankin of Birmingham, AL, William Davis of Houston, TX, and Tomiqua (Dekenric) Triplett of Tuscaloosa, AL; his father, Leo Bates; two brothers and on sister, Mark S. Bates (Janet), Baton Rouge, Leo R. Bates of New Orleans, Sheena A. Bates of Tylertown; one brother-in-law, Deon Daniels of Waynesboro; one sister-in-law, Denica Daniels of Hattiesburg.
Services were July 2, 2022, at St. James UMC, interment in the Magee Cemetery, Eld. Speedy Ross officiating.
