Martha Janis Morris, 84, of Tylertown, died Aug. 24, 2022, at the Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. She was born June 29, 1938, in West Point.
Services were Aug. 26, 2022, at Crystal Springs Baptist Church, burial in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Danny Stevens and Lonnie Case officiating.
She was employed by Trustmark National Bank for 54 years where she worked her way up the ladder to become the vice president before her retirement. She enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, listening to gospel music and hearing the piano being played. In her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis, bike riding, and visiting revivals at other churches.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dude and Cornelia Herring; and infant son John William Morris.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years Rex Morris; daughter Connie Smith (Larry, Russell, and Kala); her extra daughter Julia Lott (Dewey); brother Reed Herring; nieces and nephews Wayne Herring (Kristi), Cindy Womack (Bruce), Gwen Luckey (Wes), Ramona Tucker (Marshall), Libby McKenzie (Mike), Greg Rimes, David Rimes (Laurie).
Pallbearers were Brett Johnson, David Reagan, Brett Jones, Todd Fortenberry, Scott Prisk, Keith Gerald, Chad Rowley, and Scott Ervin. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Crystal Springs Baptist Church.
Special music was performed by Mary Jane Stogner and Debera Reeves.
