Chiefs shut down by University Lab; Salem gets TD as time ends
Chiefs shut down by UnThe University Lab Cubs football squad scored 42 points and restricted the visiting Tylertown Chiefs to 0 in the Cubs’ non-league victory on Thursday.
The Cubs now possess a 4-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Madison Prep Academy for a 3A District 6 battle on Friday, Oct. 14. University Lab will face a squad coming off a 39-0 non-league win over Port Allen (Port Allen, LA). The record now stands at 4-2.
Coming up next, the Chiefs face the Wilkinson County Wildcats from Woodville in a 3A Region 7 battle, on Friday, Oct. 14. Tylertown will attempt to advance on its 3-4 season record before a homecoming crowd. The Chiefs 3A-Region 7 record is 1-0 on the season.
Woodville enters the battle with a 0-8 record after their 39-6 league loss to Port Gibson.
The Salem Wildcats kept coming back even after Taylorsville built up a commanding 48-0 lead.
The ‘Cats avoided a shut-out in the last seconds of the game as Chris Riley ran in for a 6-pointer as the horn sounded, ending regulation play.
With no time on the clock, Riley again managed to run in the two-point conversion to put Salem on the board and finish the game 48-0.
Salem goes up against Enterprise in a home game Friday night hosting the Lincoln County School. It’s a district game for the Wildcats, still looking for their first win of the season. Overall the Wildcats are 0-7 on the year and 0-3 in district play.iversity Lab; Salem gets TD as time ends
