Patty Bond Hinson, 81, of Tylertown, died Dec. 1, 2022, in Flowood. She was born Aug. 15, 1941, in Magnolia. She graduated from Tylertown High School in 1959 and married her childhood sweetheart, Joel Hinson, in 1960. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1962, and later earned a master’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University.
Patty was a dedicated Army wife who accompanied her husband to postings all over the country and in Germany. She taught elementary school at many different locations while also raising their two daughters. She was very happy to move back home to Tylertown in 1992 and continued to teach for several more years at Tylertown Junior High School. She was an active member of the community, especially Tylertown Baptist Church, the Walthall County Food Pantry, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Joel Hinson; father Murphy Bond; mother Retha Smith Bond; brothers Ross Bond, Roy Bond, and Everett Bond.
Survivors include her daughters, Kelly Hinson and Danielle Hinson Sullivan; granddaughters, Erin Elisabeth Sullivan and Megan Lea Sullivan; brothers Abe Bond (Ione) and Robert Bond (Sharon).
Funeral services were Dec. 4, 2022, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, burial in Tylertown Cemetery II, Rev. Justin Knight officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Walthall County Food Pantry by mail at 109 Johnson Road Tylertown, MS 39667 or in person at Trustmark Bank.
Hartman Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
