Etta Ruth “Toot” Bridges Collins, 81, of Prairieville, LA, died Nov. 21, 2022. She was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Tylertown to the late Bozie and Quida Quinn Bridges.
She joined West Sunny Hill MB Church in Tylertown at an early age. She moved to New Orleans in 1955. She later married Robert Collins and moved to Chicago in 1970. She joined Union Baptist Church and served on the usher board. She was employed at Borden Products Inc. in Chicago, IL. She moved back to New Orleans after retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eddle Lee Bridges Carr and Williane Simmons; brother, Clenard “Bill” Simmons; granddaughter, Latoya Collins-McKinney; stepmother, Sallie Patterson Bridges; adopted sister, Anita “Debbie” Bridges Collins.
Survivors are her son, Curtis (Tina) Collins of Chicago; grandchildren, Curtis Jr. (Tangy) Collins, Renee Walker, Dionte (Stacey) Farmer, Tequira Collins, Nikita (Vince) Collins, and Kina Collins; great grandchildren, Christian and Major McKinney, Sloan Martinelli, Briana Wiafe, Bryson Giles, Dionte Jr. and Damuri Farmer, Tameya Collins and Xavier Williams; grandson-in-law, Chris McKinney; three sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Bridges Richard of Prarieville, LA, Glenda “Jean” Turner of New Orleans, and Mary Lee Nash of Summit; three brothers, Joe L Bridges Sr. and Charles E. Bridges Sr., both of New Orleans, James (Girdean) Dillon of Tylertown; sister-in-law, Rosella B Bridges of New Orleans.
Her funeral service was Dec. 3, 2022 at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel with interment in East Sunny Hill Church Cemetery in Tylertown.
