Dorothy M Fortenberry, 89, of Tylertown, died Jan. 12, 2023, at Southwest Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1933, in McComb.
Graveside services were Jan. 14, 2023, at Oral Cemetery in Tylertown, Rev. Everett Broom officiating.
Mrs. Fortenberry was a member of Oral Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She was a southern cook and enjoyed teaching her family how to cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Fortenberry; daughter Debra Francis; two infant children; father James Clarence Higginbotham; mother Lillie Bell Neely Higginbotham; brother James Higginbotham; sisters Ruby Kelly and Verena Barr.
Survivors include her son Jeff Fortenberry (Darlene); grandchildren Shanda Fortenberry (Angie), Mike Fortenberry (Mariette), Tesa Payne, Jon Pigott (Sarah), and Amy Balderas (Joseph); great grandchildren Harley Payne, Kylin Payne, Devin Pigott, Austin Pigott, and Mason Pigott: sisters Jeanetta “Pete” Williams and Peggy Holmes.
Pallbearers were Jon Pigott, Mike Fortenberry, Harley Payne, Devin Pigott, Austin Pigott, and Mason Pigott.
