Shirley Margare St. Julien-Young, 83, of McComb, died Jan. 7, 2023 in Hineville, GA. Mrs. Young was born June 14, 1939, in Maurice, LA, to Willis and Elizabeth Durall-St. Julien.
She was married to Clyde Young Sr. in Houma, LA, on Sept. 23, 1957, and they had two children and one adopted daughter.
While the family lived in New York, NY, she volunterred in the school system for many years. They retired in Mississippi, where they joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Her circle of friends was increased while she worked as “the paper lady.” She wasn’t one to throw out a paper and move on. A conversation would ensue. Knowing Shirley would talk all day, some people would just get in the car with her to complete the paper route. She also loved to fish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; sister, Delores St. Julien; brothers, Jeffery St. Julien, Curley St. Julien, Joseph Rainey Jr.; grandson, Robert Rogers.
Survivors are her mother-in-law, Kathlyn Conerly-Young; sister-in-law, Etter Dean Young-Williams (Robert); children, Clyde Young Jr., Mona Lisa Young-Void (Terrell), Elaine Jones-Lester; grandchildren, Aliccia Magee; loyal companion, Bella.
Services were Jan. 21, 2023, at Shady Grove MB Church, Dr. Rickey Carter officiating, interment in the Shady Grove Cemetery.
