Fundraisers for fire victims

A couple of fundraisers have been organized by neighbors, friends and family to help a couple and their two children after a fire gutted their home on Feb. 18 and destroyed all personal clothes and belongings as well as household goods.
The first fundraiser is planned Saturday, April 1, from noon to 4 p.m., in the parking lot of Family Dollar. Hotdog or hamburger plates with chips and drinks are being sold that day
The second fundraiser is for two raffles to be drawn on Saturday, April 15, at the gazebo in Tylertown’s Centennial Square.
The first raffle is for a half side of beef, cut and wrapped. Tickets for the freezer beef are $100 each.
The second raffle features a variety of prizes to be awarded. Tickets for this raffle are $5 each or five tickets for $20. Prizes include a crawfish pot with burner, gift certificates, dinner certificates from Stogner’s Fish Camp in Tylertown, Logan’s Steak House, Hattiesburg, and others; oil change certificates. a home theatre surround system, a Smokey Joe barbeque grill; gift cards, car wash, door hangers, T-shirts, wreath, facial, fire pit. Family Dollar, Magnolia State Finance, Hattiesburg KIA, Lighthouse Candles and other business have donated items for this second raffle.
First drawing will take place at 4 p.m. for the freezer beef giveaway, followed by drawings for the other prizes.
Lisa (Collins) and David Johnson have resided in Walthall County for over 18 years and their children, Joey and Colton, attend Salem Attendance Center. Although the couple had recently divorced, the family is active with their sons’ baseball teams, the Dixie Youth Baseball concession stand and other activities.
David had made arrangements to pick up his belongings, but the fire destroyed them before he could do so. Lisa, Joey and Colton lost all their possessions to the fire as well.
