Albert F. Dribben, 80, died April 20, 2023, at his home in Vero Beach, FL. Born in Clarksdale, he was the son of Samuel F. Dribben, Jr. and Margaret (Slocumb) Dribben. Albert grew up and attended school in Rolling Fork, graduating from Rolling Fork High School in 1961. He attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, with degrees in finance and accounting. He was a certified public accountant, and his work experience included auditor for the Mississippi State Tax Commission, county administrator for Pike County, chief financial officer for the McComb Public School District, and as owner/principal of Dribben & Associates, Ltd., from which he retired in 2011. Following retirement, he relocated to Coeur d’Alene, ID, and more recently to Vero Beach, FL.
Albert was an US Army Veteran – stationed primarily in Boeblingen, Germany, and served for many years in the US Army Active Reserve unit in Jackson, ultimately achieving the rank of Major. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Purvis and also served in this role at First Baptist Church of McComb. He also enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher and a choir member.
Albert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo (Nettles) Dribben, son Anthony Dribben (Tracey) of Vero Beach, FL, son Taylor Dribben (Angela) of Meadows of Dan, VA, daughter Traci Dribben Walker (Lonnie) of Lewiston, ID, and sister, Patricia Dribben Koos of Manassas, VA; eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother (John S. Dribben), and his grandson (Ethan T. Dribben).
The graveside service was April 25, 2023, at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach, FL.
In his memory, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be made to the Mississippi Baptist Children’s Village, PO Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.
Strunk Funeral Home of Vero Beach, FL, was in charge of the arrangements.
