Rev. H C Conerly, 87, of Tylertown, died July 17, 2023, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. He was born Aug. 18, 1935, to the late Hezzie Conerly and Velma Youngblood Conerly.
He joined Lee’s Chapel M.B. Church at an early age and remained a member until his death. He served as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent and also became a minister. He loved to work and help others; one of his passions was mowing the lawn.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Ulla Conerly, Beula Stubbs, Ella Mae Conerly, Christen Cotton, Josephine Manaway and Elma Dillon; his brothers: Cleophus, O.B., and Travis Conerly.
Survivors are one son, Dennis Conerly; one daughter, Karen (Julius) Hewitt; two grandsons, Andy and Pastor Antonio (Kenyatta) Magee of Petal; five great grandchildren.
A funeral service was July 22, 2023, at Lee’s Chapel M.B. Church with Rev. Robert Manaway officiating and rendering the eulogy, interment held at Conerly Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nicholas Cotton, Rodney Cotton, Kyron Cotton, Byron Cotton, Steven Dillon and Kendrick Dillon.
Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Conerly, Antonio Magee, Andy Magee and Julius Hewitt.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
