THS, Salem fall last week; both on the road Friday
The Chiefs and the Wildcats both lost last Friday, and both are 0-1 in their respective divisions. THS is 0-1 in district after a loss to West Marion last Friday; Salem has the same division record after Friday’s loss to Resurrection Catholic of Pascagoula.
Tylertown went to 1-5 overall, 0-1 in District 3A8
Salem went to 0-6 overall, 0-1 in District 1A8.
Statistics were not available for either of the Walthall teams at press time.
The Chiefs ran back an opening kickoff for a touchdown, but flag and penalty called back the score. The Chiefs intercepted a pass last in the game which would have given them the win, but that too was called back by refs, and the Chiefs couldn’t recover the momentum.
West Marion’s Trojans scored twice, the first put them up 6-0 with a failed extra point attempt.
The next Trojan score put them up 12-0 and a two point conversion had them up 14-0.
The Chiefs answered late with a 6 pointer followed by a two point conversion to make the score 14-8. In the last minutes of the game a THS score was called back. East Marion took over with a couple minutes remaining in the game, running down the clock till the horn sounded with a Trojan 12-8 victory
No game stats were available for the Wildcats 56-30 loss to Resurrection at Pascagoula. It was the first district game for Salem.
This week, Tylertown is on the road to St. Stanislaus at Bay St. Louis while the Wildcats are also on the road, playing Sacred Heart High School at Hattiesburg.
