Adopt-a-Family apps due Halloween day
The application period for needy families to qualify for Walthall’s Adopt-a-Family Christmas program is Halloween day, Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Adopt-a-Family applications can be picked up at the circuit clerk’s office.
Circuit Clerk Vernon Alford said his office has no connection with the program, outside of acting as a central location for the applications.
To be eligible for Adopt-a-Family you must be a resident of Walthall County, income must be reported and be within the U.S. Federal poverty guidelines, according to Lori Swanner, a spokesman for Walthall Adopt-a-Family.
The program is geared to help children up to and including 12th grade.
“You can pick up the applications at the circuit clerk’s office at the court house, fill them out and follow the return instructions,” Swanner said. “We want to make sure every child experiences a happy Christmas season in spite of their economic circumstances.”
Applications are screened for elibility. Those families accepted for inclusion in Adopt-a-Fmily will be notified, Swanner said.
Once the first applicants are approved, the listings will begin appearing in The Tylertown Times.
