Richard Lynn Fortenberry, 82, died Oct. 24, 2023, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was born Oct. 26, 1940, to Stanley and Frankie Seale Fortenberry in Tylertown.
Fortenberry began his career with the Walker and Dollar General stores before moving to Tylertown with his wife Betty Jean Alford Fortenberry and son Steven in 1972. He purchased Central Tomato Co. in 1980 in McComb which he ran until his retirement in 2007.
Funeral services were Oct. 26, 2023, at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home, Bro. Vann Windom officiating, burial at Tylertown Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Alford; father Stanley Fortenberry; mother Frankie Fortenberry; sisters Myrna Fortenberry Stinson, Mattie (Fannie) Fortenberry Seals, and Mary Fortenberry Ware.
Survivors include his wife Donnis McAllister Fortenberry; son Steven Fortenberry (Wendy); grandson Mitch Fortenberry (Beca).
