This season hasn’t been kind to the Salem Wildcats, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 50-30 walloping at the hands of Wesson on Thursday.
Wesson was led to victory by Brendon Duguid and Aidan Brice. Duguid scored 10 points, while Brice scored 12 points along with 3 steals. Brice is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he’s now stole two or more in the last five games he’s played. Another player making a difference was Austin Johnson, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Salem’s loss was their third straight at home and sixth of the season.
In earlier games this season, the Wildcats opened with a loss to Woodlawn Prep 59-47; were defeated by Lloyd Star 81-43; then lost a close game–a one-point loss to West Marion 37-36. Salem was also charged with two forfeits earlier in the season–charted as two losses–on Nov. 16 and Nov. 28.
Salem’s Lady Wildcats are having a tough go as well with a 1-5 record so far.
The Lady Cats lost to Wesson 52-19; previously losing to Lloyd Star in a prior game, 57-22.
Earlier in the season, Salem’s ladies dropped a game to West Lincoln, 58-16; lost to West Marion 35-22, were defeated by Lloyd Star 46-37, and fell to Woodlawn Prep in the opener, 42-21.
