Henry Grady “Bud” Harvey Jr., 93, of Tylertown, died Dec. 30, 2023. He was born Dec. 18, 1930, to the late Henry Grady Harvey and Dixie Brumfield Harvey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Johnnie Hamilton Harvey, sisters Quida Yarborough and Jo Myers.
Survivors are his daughter, Rhonda Harvey (Mark) Weegens; three grandchildren, Crista (Daniel) McKinzie, Jesse (Nikki) Weegens, Aaron (Julie) Weegens; and four great grandchildren, Genesis McKinzie, Scotland (Makia) McKinzie, Jonah Weegens, and SimonWeegens all residing in Arkansas; his brother, Dr. Charles (Jackie) Harvey of Tallahassee, Fla.
Harvey graduated from Tylertown High School and went on to Mississippi State University graduating with a bachelor degree in poultry science. He was a veteran retired from the U.S. Army. He served as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot during three wars, the Korean, Vietnam, and Desert Storm, He was a member and past commander of the American Legion. Harvey was a member of Tylertown Baptist Church and served in the men’s brotherhood and many other special projects over the years.
He enjoyed flying, fishing, and woodworking. During his later years drinking coffee with his many friends gave him much pleasure.
A celebration of life will be held on Feb. 3, 2024, at Tylertown Baptist Church from 3 PM to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tylertown Baptist Church.
