Grace Huhn
Jan. 10, 1935 – March 4, 2024
Grace Boyd Huhn, 89, of the Enon Community in Walthall County died at Forrest General Hospital on March 4, 2024.
Visitation is set Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at Enon Baptist Church, and the memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery.
Mrs. Huhn was born on January 10, 1935, daughter of Lurlene White Boyd and A.L. Boyd, Sr. She attended Enon High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Education degree. She taught second grade at Salem and Tylertown elementary schools and served as a Title I reading supervisor.
Mrs. Huhn made the greatest decision of her life at age 10 when she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized into the fellowship of Enon Baptist Church. Through the years, she faithfully served in many areas of the church, including pianist, children’s choir director, Women’s Missionary Union member, Agape Sunday School Class teacher for 16 years, and Joyful Generation Senior Group chair.
One of the most precious blessings of Mrs. Huhn’s life was marrying her childhood sweetheart, Louie Huhn. They had 68 wonderful years together loving on their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sharing careers in the school system; and making their home in the Enon community on the Huhn family property.
Mrs. Huhn was a faithful Christian and was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, collecting cookbooks, visiting antique stores and attending tractor shows with her husband. Her favorite color was red; she said wearing red gave her courage.
Mrs. Huhn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Brooks Huhn; two brothers, David Boyd and A.L. “Sonny” Boyd, Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Boyd Thornhill, Juanita Boyd Allred, and Mary Frances “Molly” Boyd. She was the only remaining living child of the Boyds.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Tina Bethany Huhn Hahn of Oxford, MS, and husband James; granddaughter Leslie Hahn Smith of Oxford, and husband David Barton Smith; grandson James Lawson Hahn of Cleveland, OH, and finacee Dr. Christa Eussen; great-grandsons, Barton Brent Smith and James Rivers Smith of Oxford; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church’s Lottie Moon offering, at 1449 Highway 583, Jayess, MS 39641.
