William David Simpson, 83, of Tylertown, died Feb. 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born June 1, 1940, in Flint, MI, to the late Richard and Addie Mae Simpson.
He was a lifelong resident of Flint, MI, until moving with his wife to her hometown here in Tylertown. He served in the US Air Force where he was honorably discharged in 1958. Simpson was a member of the United Auto Workers’ Union and retired from General Motors with over 38 years of service in the AC Spark Plug Division.
He was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Flint, MI, where he sang in the Blue Bells and the Wilson Ensembles. He also was a member of the First Union Baptist Church, Golden Leaf (Promise Tabernacle), and The Cross Missionary Baptist Church where he became a minister of music. He also learned to play piano along with singing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Simpson Jr., Dianne Keyes, and Henry Simpson; niece, Stephanie Simpson; in-laws, Charles Brown, Truvlin Jones and Willie Jones.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Roseatta Simpson; three children, Rhonda (Woody) Greene of Canton, GA, David Simpson of Newport News, Va and Kennard Simpson of Mt. Morris, MI; grandchildren, Phalen and Nygel Green, both of Kansas City, MO; special God-Daughter, Natasha Friday of Southfield, MI; sister, Cherry Brown of Flint, MI.
Funeral services were March 2, 2024, at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel, Rev. Isaac Jones officiating.
