Chiefs season ends with loss to Jefferson County

Tylertown Chiefs lost in the second round of the state 3A playoffs to end their season while Jefferson County advances to the third round to play Magee this Friday night.
Jefferson County defeated the Chiefs 38-20 Friday night at Fayette.
With 10 minutes remining in the first quarter, Jefferson County intercepted a Chiefs pass to take possession. A minute later Jefferson County scored on a 23-yard run to go ahead 6-0 following a failed conversion.
With four minutes remaining in the quarter, the Chiefs tied the score at 6-6.
A minute later Jefferson Count answered with a 65-touchdown run and two-point conversion to lead 14-6.
A minute into the second quarter the Chiefs scored on a rush, but failed to make the conversion to come within two points and Jefferson County amained in the lead 14-12.
A couple of minutes later THS intercepted a Jeff County pass to score a touchdown going up 18-14. A two-point conversion was good and the Chiefs led 20-14 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
Both teams turned the ball over on downs until Jefferson County managed to put in a six pointer just before half time to lead 26-20 at halftime.
With nine minutes remaining in 3rd quarter Jefferson County scored a rushing touchdown from five yards out to make it 32-20. The point after attempt failed.
Jeff County’s final score came in the fourth quarter after recovering a THS fumble with seven minutes remaining. wetting up a drive that ended with a score from five yards out for six and a missed extra point to end scoring at 38-20.
The Chiefs end their season after th4e second round while Jefferson County advances to play Magee Friday night.
