Chiefs fall to Hazlehurst
The Hazlehurst Indians moved to the second playoff round following a home field defeat of the visiting Tylertown Chiefs, 57-40, in a first round 3A playoff victory.
Here is the breakdown of each quarter’s scoring.
The Chiefs and Indians tied 16-16 at the end of the first quarter. Then, Hazlehurst added 20 points in the second quarter, while the Chiefs managed only 6 points to end the first half, Hazlehurst 36, Tylertown 22.
THS outscored the Indians 16-14 in the third period but Hazlehurst had built the lead to 50-38 as the final 12 minutes got underway.
The Chiefs added 2 points in the final period with the Indians scoring 7 to close out the game 57-40 for the Hazlehurst victory.
The first-round playoff loss ends the football season for the Chiefs.
Hazlehurst will journey to Union Friday night to the second-round playoffs.
