Petty thefts continue to plague county

Burglaries, thefts continue to be a problem in Walthall County as misdemeanor petty thefts appear among the sheriff’s department offense reports.
Danny Pigott reported an attempted burglary of a pickup truck belonging to Wayne Douglas Stevens, 663 Hwy. 98 West. Pigott called the Walthall Sheriff’s Office to report he arrived home and saw someone inside Stevens’ pickup. Pigott apparently surprised the burglar, who ran from the scene.
Jeremy Lane Case, 40, 160 St. Paul Road, reported a 32 ft. extension ladder taken from his work truck.
Karen L. Barlow, 62, reported a refrigerator stolen from her residence at 71 Leonard Holmes Road. Barlow, who now lives in Petal, said someone broke in the rear door of the house.
Several misdemeanor simple assault/domestic violence incidents were also reported by deputies.
