Dorothy Willis was born Oct. 1, 1923, and died July 5, 2020. She was preceded in death by Charles McDonald Willis, husband, and brother, Lee Nettles.
Mrs. Willis was born in Tylertown, but grew up in New Orleans where she attended Sophie B. Wright School. She later graduated from Louisiana State University where she earned a bachelor of science in physical education and was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.
She married Charles McDonald Willis after WWII on April 5, 1946, in New Orleans. They made their home in Tylertown where they worked together in the family business, Willis Hardware and Furniture Co., until they retired in 1978. she was an active member of the Tylertown United Methodist Church, the Community Club, Garden Guild, Friends of the Library, and always loved playing Bridge.
Survivors include: daughter Suzanne Miyabe (Jim) of Los Angeles, Calif., daughter Patricia Willis of Canton, son Albert W. Willis II (Becky) of Cookeville, TN, and daughter JoAnne Rawls (Artie) of Tylertown; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
The family asks that all gifts be donated in her memory to the Tylertown United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
